Lavender Lemon Balm Lemonade
This herbal twist on the classic is sure to hit the spot on these hot August days and is an excellent way to bring fresh lavender and lemon balm from your garden to your table. If you participated in the winter grow-along, you have plenty of lemon balm on-hand so let's get to it! Here’s how I make it:
Lavender Lemon Balm Lemonade Ingredients
Lavender Lemon Balm Lemonade Ingredients
- 6 cups water
- 1 cup fresh lemon balm
- 3-4 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1 cup lavender simple syrup
Lavender Simple Syrup Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large handful fresh (or dried) lavender
To Make
- Make lavender simple syrup according to this recipe.
- While the simple syrup is cooling to room temp, muddle the fresh lemon balm into 6 cups of water and set aside to infuse (for a couple hours in the fridge, if possible). Strain the lemon balm from the water before moving on to step 3.
- Add the lemon juice and simple syrup to the infused water. Mix well, made adjustments to sweetness or tartness according to personal taste, and serve over ice garnished with a sprig of fresh lavender, a slice of fresh lemon, and a lemon balm leaf.
TIP: As an alternative to infusing the water with lemon balm, you could add the 1 cup of fresh lemon balm to your lavender when making the simple syrup, to make a lavender lemon balm simple syrup.
